Here in our apiary, we have had twenty hives in the past two years. We lost one colony during this time, and we have only used our tablets to treat these hives for Varroa Mites.
Our regimen is 5 treatments 5 days apart in August and then again two treatments in December or early January on a warm day when the bees are flying. Mike’s Bees LLC is the only U.S. based company to register Oxalic Acid tablets with the E.P.A. as an approved treatment for Varroa mite control on honeybees. Our easy-to-use EZ-OX Tablets are the first product of their kind on the market with each tablet containing a full 1 gram of oxalic acid. We have worked with the Dept of Agriculture and the EPA to raise the amount of oxalic acid from one to two grams per deep brood box.
Our EZ-OX tablets contain 1 gram of 99.6% oxalic acid each, therefore the tablet will weigh a fraction more. No measuring required, saves loads of time. Super-Fast, No muss, No fuss.
Mike’s Bees LLC. has an E.P.A approved oxalic acid 99.7% powder available in early 2024. We are also working on some ideas to make vaporizing oxalic acid treatments even easier for all beekeepers.
Our EZ-OX products leave no sticky residues in your vaporizer. Fast & Clean!
During our EPA registrations we learned much about the types of Oxalic Acid and how and where it’s made. There is NO oxalic acid made in U.S.A.. We approached over forty companies to be our registered source of oxalic acid. Some of these companies were ones that we have seen their oxalic acid used in beekeeping instructional videos on YouTube channels. None of these provided us with any of the required information.
Many other companies couldn’t answer or provide all the required information in the EPA’s strict line of questioning about their oxalic acid. In the end only three companies passed the scrutiny of the EPA. Every ounce of our oxalic acid has a batch number and a Certificate of Analysis (COA). This COA reports the impurities in the oxalic acid and the percent of purity among other specific data.
By using our EZ-OX Oxalic Acid you can be assured that the company that made our active ingredient has adhered to and answered the to all requirements asked by the EPA. Even how a company’s COA testing was done is a requirement of the EPA.
